POSITION SUMMARY

The Intern will be responsible for supporting the People & Culture team, its initiatives, and goals. During the internship, the intern can expect to gain a broad understanding of Human Resources functions such as recruitment, compliance, training and development, HRIS, HR admin, leave management, and employee relations. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support as follows: maintain personnel files, prepare new hire folders, track data on spreadsheets, update HR communication boards, schedule meetings, reserve meeting rooms, coordinate parking, etc.
  • Conduct background and reference checks, pre-hire and post-hire, as needed.
  • Assist in the New Hire Onboarding process as follows: schedule new hire orientation; work with IT on new employee workstation and IT setup; prepare new hire orientation packets; distribute new hire email announcements; order ID badges and nametags; etc. 
  • Assist in coordinating interviews and hiring events.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of all colleague relations activities.
  • Maintain colleague telephone directory.
  • Complete purchase orders and office supply orders.  Follow up with vendors as needed.
  • Manage employee parking passes and validation stickers.
  • Manage and track required staff training and certifications.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Follow and support all operational policies and procedures.  Assimilate into the arts center culture through understanding, supporting and demonstrating the core values.  
  • Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with other departments, colleagues, and partners.  
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.  Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.  Maintain Dr. Phillips Center standards of customer service at all times.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
