Director Risk Control (Finance)


Job Description
DIRECTOR RISK CONTROL
Tyson Foods, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Risk Control professional to join our Treasury Team. The Director Risk Control will report to the Assistant Treasurer and will be responsible for managing the risk control function to fit within the overall Tyson risk management structure.
This position will educate, and train senior executives and business unit managers on importance of risk control initiatives and develop functions in the area of market risk, financial risk, credit risk and general trading risk control to provide objective and independent risk management support for commodity risk exposure areas including grains, fresh meats, poultry, energy, dairy and ingredients packaging.
This position will further initiate extension of controls functions to business units throughout the organization.
This role encompasses extensive interaction with trading teams, various risk functions, IT and other control groups, with a particular focus on day-to-day market risk management, scenario analysis and stress testing for the commodities business.
Responsibilities
Championing commodity and financial market risk controls and serving as market risk subject matter expert.
Ensuring policies and procedures are in place, reviewed and enforced for commodity, foreign exchange (FX) risk and cash management.
Reviewing positions for compliance with the policy and approved limits. Follow up on exceptions.
Ensuring various risk management policies are reviewed periodically and any changes are approved by the senior leadership.
Communicating commodity, FX and interest rate risk exposures to internal stakeholders.
Conducting discussions with key stakeholders to evaluate and measure risk when new sources of commodity, FX and interest rate risk are identified. Analyze complex structured commodity transactions, conduct risk assessment, and develop valuation models for such transactions.
Performing analysis of interest rate risk and providing recommendations for hedging exposures.
Negotiating ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) and brokerage agreements in a form that protects Tyson's interests and supports Tyson’s business needs and goals
Providing credit and financial information to support to Treasury as necessary.
Ensuring Tyson is compliant with commodity trading and exchange derivatives regulations and regulatory reporting requirements.
Identifying and implementing best practices in risk control, continually improving and strengthening controls over commodity risk management activities. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Undergraduate degree in finance, business administration, economics or a quantitative discipline required. Masters degree preferred.
Professional designation CFA or FRM preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 8 Years of experience in finance or treasury roles with some of that experience in a commodity trading or risk control function.
Subject Matter Expertise:
Solid understanding of commodity risk management, including derivatives, physical agricultural or energy markets and risk metrics.
Broad knowledge of derivatives and options as well as understanding of drivers that impact valuation.
Knowledge of financial reporting for commodity trading, accounting for hedging transactions and Market to Market analysis for valuing physical and derivative positions.
Leadership Skills:
Proven track record of building trust and win-win relationships. Ability to manage the polarity between the independence required of a risk control function and a business partnering approach.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in getting things done through others.
Commitment to ongoing personal development and continuous learning covering Treasury, commodity markets, risk analytics and hedging strategies.
Proven ability to work within a dynamic and complex environment.
Communication Skills:
Must be able to translate complex technical information into business facing language and articulate complex model concepts to diverse audience of Tyson management.
Technology Skills:
Advanced Excel modeling skill and experience in database development and operation. VBA programming in Excel and SQL programming a plus. Experience using statistical software and trading risk management systems.
Travel:
1 to 5 domestic trips per year.
