Interns at United Way Worldwide gain valuable learning and working experience at a leading nonprofit organization. Our goal is to make every intern who works with us feel included, valuable, and productive. In addition to the hands-on experience you’ll receive working at the largest nonprofit in the world, you will be provided with weekly professional development workshops.  
The internship opportunities are open to current students of a college program, or within 2 years of graduating. Applicants must be eligible to work within the United States and have all documentation at the time of their application, including a Social Security Number.  
United Way Worldwide’s (UWW) Operations team is seeking a motivated and customer-focused intern to support the user experience and adoption of UWW’s tech tools by UWW staff. As UWW builds a coordinated and consistent suite of tools that support our daily work, we are taking a people-first approach to technology adoption and the user experience. This intern will assist by writing guidance articles, recording help videos, drafting “tech tips” communications to UWW staff, and making recommendations to improve the user experience. This will be a valuable experience for any student pursuing a career in business operations or technology customer success. 
  • Review existing documentation for UWW’s tech tools and identify gaps within and across tech tools 
  • Draft how-to articles, guidance on when to use tools and features, and other user supports •   Develop and record training videos to support more visual users 
  • Draft and post “tech tips” for users to better learn existing and new tool features 
  • Explore tool functionality and help identify most efficient solution to user needs 
  • Inform new user onboarding plan to ensure new staff have a seamless experience learning the tools and how UWW uses them 
  • May perform additional projects upon request 
  • Business, Computer Science, Communications or related major 
  • Creative communicator using different media – writing, video, and visuals 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Strong focus on customer / user support 
  • Weekly professional development workshops provided onsite 
  • Chance to meet and work with top nonprofit experts in the country 
  • Completely remote internship experience 
This internship takes place 100% remote for the Spring 2021 semester. 
Spring 2021 Internships will take place from January 18 – April 16.
